Transmission 0002
Members' Enquiries. Two enquiries, one caller who could not find the door, and a notice from the Ridgemere Engagement Bureau, which counts what you did and sends the receipt.
- Date 2026-09-15
- Duration 3:28
- Read by the Secretary
Human reading
Every transmission is read by the Secretary. A transmission may also be read in person by a member of the Club. Readings are pooled: the floor for a reading is 380 PLN, seats are 38 PLN, and a reading is recorded when its floor is met. Seats beyond the floor are welcome. The Secretary's reading remains available to the public; the member's reading is delivered to those who subscribed to its floor. A member's reading is not a performance. It is the same transmission, read by someone who was in the room.

[SECRETARY] Good evening. This is the Secretary. You are listening to Members’ Enquiries, in which the Club answers questions put to it by the public. The Club does not accept questions from the public. These were forwarded by members on the public’s behalf. That is the arrangement, and it has not changed.
Tonight’s first enquiry. Is it true that the audience is listening?
[REGISTRAR] In principle, yes. But it is not the audience that is listening, it is the instrument. The instrument counts what the audience does. Attendance. Duration. The moment of leaving. From these it derives a signal. The signal is then consumed by the organisation on the audience’s behalf. The audience is informed of this in the terms. The terms are available on request. Nobody has requested them.
[SECRETARY] Second enquiry. Is it true that the grant is for the artist?
[REGISTRAR] In principle, yes. But it is not for the artist, it is for the intervention. The artist is the means by which the intervention occurs. The artist is required to hold a number. The number is checked. The intervention is not checked, because it has not yet occurred. This is called the application stage. It is the only stage in which the artist is certain to exist.
[SECRETARY] Thank you. We go to the lines now. Caller, you are on the air.

[CALLER] Yes. Hello. I was at your event last month. I did not fill in the survey.
[SECRETARY] That is correct.
[CALLER] So I am not in the data.
[SECRETARY] You are in the data as a person who did not fill in the survey. That is a well-established category. It is, in fact, the largest. The Club would draw your attention to the fact that you stayed until the end. That was noted. It is regarded as a strong signal.
[CALLER] I stayed because I could not find the door.
[SECRETARY] The instrument does not distinguish. We are always faintly surprised. Thank you for your call.

[ANNOUNCER] Members’ Enquiries is brought to you by the Ridgemere Engagement Bureau. Every visit becomes a signal. Every signal becomes a decision. Every decision is disclosed to the visitor in a quarterly statement, in plain language, after the fact. The Bureau measures what you did, names it, and tells you. It does not ask what you meant. Nobody has that instrument. The Ridgemere Engagement Bureau. You were counted. Here is the receipt.

[SECRETARY] That is Members’ Enquiries for this evening. The Declined Register has been updated. There were three. One of them was a question about the Register itself, which is declined on principle, and the principle is also in the Register.
Enquiries may be forwarded through a member. If you do not know a member, you are in the data as a person who does not know a member. It is a well-established category.
