Human reading
Every transmission is read by the Secretary. A transmission may also be read in person by a member of the Club. Readings are pooled: the floor for a reading is 380 PLN, seats are 38 PLN, and a reading is recorded when its floor is met. Seats beyond the floor are welcome. The Secretary's reading remains available to the public; the member's reading is delivered to those who subscribed to its floor. A member's reading is not a performance. It is the same transmission, read by someone who was in the room.

[ANNOUNCER] Radio Ridgemere. Members only. Transmitting from the Club. This is Transmission one.

[SECRETARY] Good evening. This is the Secretary. You are listening to Members’ Enquiries, in which the Club answers questions put to it by the public. The Club does not accept questions from the public. Every enquiry aired tonight was forwarded by a member on the sender’s behalf. The member is not named. The sender is not told which member. That is the arrangement and it has not changed.
Queue position is by lot. Two of tonight’s enquiries were taken out of order, and this transmission notes that they were taken out of order, because that is what priority forwarding provides. It does not provide a different answer.
The Registrar is with me, as usual, for the rulings and the fees.
[REGISTRAR] Good evening.
[SECRETARY] The first enquiry. Is it true that the price is the same for everyone?
[REGISTRAR] In principle, yes. But the price is the same for everyone in your position, and your position is calculated. The rate shown to your handset at eleven at night, on nine per cent battery, on the third search of the same route, is the rate available to anyone at nine per cent on a third search. Nothing was withheld from you. A different figure was shown to somebody else at the same moment, and both figures were the price. The screen told you what the price was. It did not undertake to tell you whose.
[SECRETARY] The second enquiry. Is it true that the training was free?
[REGISTRAR] In principle, yes. But free describes the attendance and not the cost. The eleven hours were unpaid, because attendance was a benefit. The cost, two thousand four hundred zloty, is recoverable in full if you leave within twenty four months, and it falls by one twenty fourth for each month you remain. The clause sits on the third page of the induction pack, immediately above the signature. You did not receive training without paying for it. You purchased, in monthly instalments, the right to stop owing for it, and the instalments are paid in months.
[SECRETARY] We go to the lines. Caller, you are on the air.

[CALLER 1] Hello. Yes. I am on a fulfilment floor. They track time off task and I have had two write ups now, both for the toilet.
[SECRETARY] It is understandable to feel singled out, and it helps to remember that the policy applies to everyone. There are two adjustments, and neither of them needs a conversation with your team lead. First, leave for your shift twenty minutes earlier and use the facilities at a coffee outlet on your route. Many open early, and it is a chance to support a local business. Second, review your fluid intake in the hours before a shift. Colleagues who have made these changes report fewer write ups and, very often, renewed engagement.
[CALLER 1] Twenty minutes earlier.
[SECRETARY] Twenty minutes is usually enough. If the write ups continue, ask whether an off task allowance can be earned through overtime. It usually can. The Loyal Host covers this at greater length and we recommend it.
[REGISTRAR] Time off task is not a rule about the toilet. It is a rule about time. The toilet is one of the things you may be doing during it, and the instrument holds no view on which.
[SECRETARY] Thank you for your call.

[ANNOUNCER] Members’ Enquiries is brought to you by Wellbeing Assurance. Behavioural compliance instrumentation for carbon based resources.
The SmileCore Cordiality Terminal is now in its fourth season at the counter. The panel listens, on the device, for the phrases policy requires: the warm greeting, the supplementary offer. Where a phrase is omitted, a disappointed face illuminates. The panel faces the associate. It has never faced the customer.
The Vernacular Engagement Index remains in service alongside it. Conversational intensity is logged and reported upward as engagement.
New on this transmission. SmileCore Companion, a paired cordiality collar. Worn at the wrist, or on the lanyard where the wrist is gloved, the Companion pairs with the terminal over Bluetooth Low Energy and delivers a corrective prompt within four hundred milliseconds of an omission. It is a low level cue. It is a brief somatic reminder, and it is private.
Consider the alternative, which is the arrangement your associates have now. The correction arrives from a manager, in front of a queue, at the end of a shift, at whatever volume the manager has left. The Companion delivers the same correction at the wrist, silently, before a manager has formed a view. Wellbeing Assurance regards the removal of the manager from the correction as the principal benefit to the resource.
Enrolment is voluntary. Resources who do not enrol are rostered to the unmonitored window, which is the third shift, and the third shift carries no supplementary offer and therefore no commission.
The Companion charges at the station and reports its own compliance. Pricing is per wrist, per month, billed to the operator. The log is retained by the operator. Wellbeing Assurance. We measure, score and correct the human element.

[SECRETARY] The third enquiry, forwarded with a named acknowledgement. Anna, of Katowice. Surnames are not read; the Club does not confirm membership.
Is it true that the record is anonymous?
[REGISTRAR] In principle, yes. But the record is not anonymous, it is de identified, and de identification is a process rather than a property. The process reverses with three fields. A postcode, a date of birth and a sex return most people uniquely. You supplied all three to a loyalty scheme in exchange for a discount on a coffee, and the discount was real, and it was applied that day. The record was then sold as anonymous, truthfully, by a party under no obligation to test the word.
[ANNOUNCER] The members’ floor. Six dollars a month provides early transmissions, the unaired enquiries with the Registrar’s reasons, the Corrections desk, and the right to forward without lot.
A certified transcript of this transmission, naming you as the forwarding party, is twenty four dollars. Redaction of your own enquiry from the written transcript, after the fact, is thirty nine dollars. The audio remains.
The Executive Tier is four hundred and ninety nine dollars. Your enquiry is never aired. You are billed as if it were. A letter confirms both.
Every transmission is read by the Secretary. A transmission may also be read in person by a member of the Club. Readings are pooled. The floor for a reading is three hundred and eighty zloty, a seat is thirty eight zloty, and a reading is recorded when its floor is met. Those who subscribed to a floor are listed by first name.
[SECRETARY] To the lines. Caller, you are on the air.

[CALLER 2] Hi. I work a counter. We got bands in wellbeing week, everyone did, and I thought it was for steps. It taps me. It taps me when I go quiet, and I did not know that was what it was for until my sister asked me why I was flinching at home.
[SECRETARY] It is understandable to feel singled out, and it helps to remember that the band was offered to everyone on the counter. The prompt reaches you before your team lead does, which is the point of it, and many colleagues describe that as a relief once the first fortnight is behind them. The band is a benefit your employer provides voluntarily.
We would add one thing that readers often find steadying. If you are enrolled in a workplace pension, your contributions sit in broad index funds, and those funds hold the operator of your counter. When your employer reports a strong quarter, a small share of that strength returns to you, as a fractionally larger retirement account. Statements are issued quarterly. The Loyal Host covers this in Your Portfolio, and we recommend it.
[CALLER 2] So the flinching is in the pension.
[SECRETARY] The quarter is in the pension. Thank you for your call.
[REGISTRAR] In the operator’s accounts the band is equipment. In the handbook it is a benefit. Both entries are correct in the document they appear in.
[ANNOUNCER] The following ten seconds have been purchased. There is no content in them.
[SILENCE: ten seconds of true dead air. Render as silence, not room tone.]
[REGISTRAR] During that interval we did not mention the operator of a scheduling platform, we did not mention its parent, and we did not mention the fee it charges an employer per rostered head, which is one dollar and ten cents a week. The party who purchased the silence is not that operator. We are asked to confirm that the silence was complete. It was.
[SECRETARY] The fourth enquiry. Is it true that I choose my own hours?
[REGISTRAR] In principle, yes. But you state your availability, and availability is scored. A resource who declares forty hours in order to be given twenty is compliant. A resource who declares twenty is available for twenty and receives eleven. The roster is published on the Thursday for the Monday. The shift that closes at midnight and the shift that opens at six are one arrangement with a gap in it. The gap is yours. It is six hours long.
[SECRETARY] The fifth enquiry. Is it true that the clock rounds to the nearest quarter hour?
[REGISTRAR] In principle, yes. But it rounds in both directions and the queue at the badge reader runs in one. Seven minutes on the way in is nothing. Seven minutes on the way out is nothing. Across two hundred and forty shifts it is exactly twenty eight hours. The wage floor is a floor. Nothing in the arrangement prevents it from resting on the floor, and it does.
[SECRETARY] To the lines. Caller, you are on the air.
(pause)
[CALLER 3] Right. So I took the advice, the leaving early thing. I was in twenty minutes early every day for nine years. Then in June they moved my start to the earlier time, because that is when the badge showed me, and the twenty minutes went to the quarter hour and the quarter hour went the other way. And then last Tuesday two people I did not know walked me to the car park with a box.
[SECRETARY] Nine years is long service and you should be proud of it.
[CALLER 3] Nobody told me why.
[SECRETARY] That is usual, and there is a kindness in it. A reason invites a conversation, and conversations at that stage help no one. Treat the box as your employer treated you, as an asset to be handled with care. For a modest fee a courier will collect your personal effects, so that you need not carry the box past colleagues. Contributors who keep their profile current throughout, in the company’s own values language, report a smoother transition, because it signals continuity to the next employer.
[CALLER 3] There is a letter. They want the training money back. Two thousand four hundred.
[REGISTRAR] The balance falls by one eighteenth for each month you remained, so the recoverable figure is lower than the sum on the letter. Write and ask for the schedule. They are obliged to send it and it is usually correct.
[CALLER 3] And the clause. Two years, fifty kilometres, anything with a counter in it.
[REGISTRAR] The clause was on the third page, above the signature, in the same pack as the training. We are always faintly surprised. Thank you for your call.

[ANNOUNCER] A notice from Kessler Roe Partners. Board and executive appointments for regulated institutions. Where an institution requires a named individual in a position of formal responsibility, Kessler Roe places one. The appointment is real, the remuneration is real, and the responsibility is formal. Retained search, global coverage, discreet. Engage us before the fate of your competitors becomes a matter of record. Kessler Roe Partners.
[ANNOUNCER] The Corrections desk.
[REGISTRAR] In the second enquiry we gave the recoverable cost of the training as two thousand four hundred zloty. The figure was two thousand eight hundred. We apologise for the error, which understated the investment made in the resource.
In the same enquiry we described the eleven hours as unpaid. They were unpaid. We are asked to add that they were also certified, and that the certificate remains the property of the employer.
A caller this evening was described as having been walked to the car park. He was escorted. The distinction is the employer’s, and we are content to record it.
[SECRETARY] That is Members’ Enquiries for this evening. The Declined Register has been updated. There were six. The refusals ran to two sentences each, as usual. One enquiry tonight was not aired. It has been billed.
The floor for the members’ reading of this transmission was met this afternoon at nine seats. Those who subscribed are listed by first name.
Enquiries may be forwarded through a member. If you do not know a member, that is the answer to a question you have not yet put to us.
(pause)
Your pension fund holds a position in four of tonight’s arrangements. Statements are issued quarterly.
The Club thanks you for listening, and for consuming the media made specifically for you.
Good night.
